What is Phonetic Symbol?
Phonetic
symbol or International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) Is the visual representation of
speech sounds.
In the Phonetic symbol we learn about vowel and consonant.
- Vowel is sound produced with a comparatively open configuration of the vocal tract. the sound is lost air without any obstacles or pressure from the organ of speech. Vowel are twio types:
1. Monophthong (Single vowel) is a pure sound, where there is one vowel sound in a syllable.
- ᴂ (apple, sat, had)
- e / ԑ (ten, met, set)
- i / i (happy, verry)
- ɪ (sit, hit, bit)
- u/u (you, too, flew)

- eɪ (hey, way, say)
- aɪ (my, eye, shy)
- ᴏʊ (go, no, low)
- aʊ (how, now)
- ɔɪ (boy, toy, joy)
- Consonant is sound of language with obstacles and pressure air on some organ of speech.Consonant are two types:
1. Voiceless is the letters that come out of the mouth, not of the throat and when we hold our throat, then there is no vibration when saying the
letters.
- p (pencil, peanut, please)
- k (can, cats, cackle)
- t (take, two. turtles)
- t∫ (change, chewy, watches)
- f (four, five, fellas)
- s (six, slimy, snails)
- ∫ (shine, shoe, shouldn't)
- θ (thick, thin, thank)
- h ( hello, how, hat)
2. Voiced is the letters that come out of the throat, as you pronounce a letter and when we hold the throat, it will feel vibrations when saying the letters.
- b (big, bad, baby)
- g (girl, giggling, gargoyles)
- d (don't, disagree, doughnuts)
- ʤ (just, jam, juicy)

What is it ???
BalasHapusIt to short information about phonetic. I dont like it 😑.
It not make me understand...
Please add information again about phonetic !!!!
I already added it, you can read one more.
HapusIPA's a recent variation right? 19th century since that's when international relations began. But there's apparently older versions of IPA: palaeotype alphabet, which evolves to romic then phonotypic and eventually IPA. Could you explain the difference between all four?
BalasHapusOkay, I think if I explain all four will more than one paper so i give you link about all four that. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1467-968X.1985.tb01040.x

BalasHapusOkay bg Jim, i will send you my video link.
Hapuswhat the effect to my daily life if i learn phonetic?
BalasHapusYou can speak clearly and easy to understand what you said.
Hapusdoes that matter when we pronounce sentences in foreign languages? because basically we are always mistaken in pronunciation
HapusYes really important, so that's why we must learn phonetic to make it our pronunciation clearly and we will never make it mistake to our pronunciation.
Hapuswhat if someone has a deficiency in matters of speaking. for example, a cleft person. can they learn phonetic and applied phonetic skill in daily life?
HapusYes of course, that's important too for them. If they are can learn about phonetic why not!
Hapushow the way they are learn phonetic beside they are have many kekurangan?
Hapuslack are not a obstacles to learning ci. but learning phonetic is to find out how sound is produced by human organs so that even if they have a shortage we can still see their mouth movements and how the sound they produce from their organs .except for dumb people it's hard to understand them.
Hapusooh okay, i see. so there are no difficult obstacles in learning phonetics right?

Hapusokay nov, thankyou for your explaination. i get understand 😁
HapusYour welcome.
Hapusin conclusion, all people must have educated about phonetic right?
HapusYes that is true, because phonetics is one of the most important in linguistics.
Hapusok thankyou novita, glad to talking talking with you :)
HapusOke, i hope that's useful for you.
HapusI love it 😍 Thankyou for you information.. :) where can we find the phonetics symbol?
BalasHapusYou can find in dictionary and also on social media or Internet.
Hapuscan you tell me what is the syllable in monophthong and diphthong?
BalasHapusSyllable in monophtong and diphthong are alphabet of vowels.
Hapusi got it. why we used to learn this phonetic?
HapusBecause to make it our pronunciation clearly.
Hapuspronounciation? how about phonology?tbh i dont know what different they are.
HapusThe different of both are Phonology is the term used for the study of the speech sounds used in a particular language. Phonetics is the term for the description and classification of speech sounds, particularly how sounds are produced, transmitted and received.
Hapusuwuu, can you explain with the simple word?
Hapusphonology is study of the speech sounds used in a particular language.
Hapusphonetic is particularly how sounds are produced.
ah i got it. are there certain part in our mouth when we produced the sound?
HapusYes of course.
Hapuswhat are they?
HapusThere are tongue, tooth and lip and etc.

Hapusrelated to which one phonetic to english skills?
HapusRelated with speaking skill.
HapusWhy ? Would you like to give me explanation ?
HapusOke. Why related with speaking skill because phonetic about sound and speaking is sound too.
HapusWhat's the strength of phonetic ?even phonetics only study about sounds
Hapusbecause learning the sound is why phonetic is important. If you talk your voice doesn't come out? must come out right and the sound you know where is it came from and how it was produced by the organ speech?so that's why must leran phonetic.
HapusIf I only know where the sounds come out and how the sounds produce,so what benefits do I get ? Especially in my daily life
HapusPeopleS will better understand what you said.
HapusHmm Okey, can phonetic learned by people who can't speak ? I mean, isn't phonetic identic to sounds
HapusYes of course. because phonetic learn how sound produce with our organ but even our sound not out we can know what the peoples said from their mouth movements.
HapusOh really ? I just know it
HapusYes of course.
HapusWhy you choose phonetic?
BalasHapusBecause i'm like it, i wanna know how the sound produce.

BalasHapusCan you tell me few parts of phonetic and explain it ??
BalasHapusPart of phonetic there are vowel and cosonant. Consonant is sounds of language with obstacles and pressure air on some organ of speech. Vowel is sound produced with a comparatively open configuration of the vocal tract.
HapusBesides consonants, is there part of phonetic maybe stress, syllabel or others. Can explain it and give me the examples
Hapuspart of phonetic :
Hapus1. Acoustic phonetics is the study of the physical properties of sounds, the air wave frequencies of which sounds consist.example : the air wave frequencies of which sounds consist, frequency of vibrations measured in hertz, and Instruments used to measure and record speech sounds include the sound spectrograph
2. Auditory phonetics is the study of how sounds are perceived by the human ear or recognized by the brain. example : by the human ear or recognized by the brain.
3. Articulatory phonetics is the study of how sounds are produced by the vocal apparatus. example : tongue, lips, jaw, and other speech organs
Tahnkyou for the explanation, so how about natural sounds in what part of the explanation above ? And why ??
HapusOke. Natural sounds is vowel because the sound is lost air without any obstacles or pressure from the organ of speech.
HapusOkay, but I mean natural sounds here is sounds of nature such as wind, thunder or something like that. so how about the sounds ? Including Which part of phonetics ?
HapusKomentar ini telah dihapus oleh pengarang.
HapusIncluding the vowels part
HapusWhy sounds of nature including the vowels part ?
HapusBecause vowel sound is lost air without any obstacles or pressure from the organ of speech.
HapusOh okay I got the point.
HapusBut I want to know the example of apply phonetic especially IPA in real life, can you give it ?
For example: Man, when saying that, the upper lip and lower lip (both lips closed).
HapusOkay, thankyou for the example. And I want to know, is there different for our pronounce when we use IPA or not ? Why ?
HapusOf course there is, when we speak the sound out clearly and can be like native speakers when we speak.
HapusOh okay, thankyou for the explanation :)
HapusIt's my pleasure.
HapusGood
